Island of Hope & Healing

In October 2019 Alaska's Healing Hearts was afforded the opportunity to work together with BYUtv’s The Fixers, an incredible group of people, who worked tirelessly through storms and bone-chilling Alaska weather to build and refurbish the Island of Hope and Healing. We will be forever grateful for being able to make this dream a reality. It was an opportunity of a lifetime to work alongside the cast of the Fixers, many Veterans and their families. We hope you'll all take a minute to watch the preview, then watch the episode by clicking here.

Alaska's Healing Hearts events are open to military members and in most cases families.

Hardwater Warriors our premier ice fishing program will take 450-500 military, veterans, and family members out a season. This program is key to getting veterans and family members out during the winter months.

We will provide ice shanties, poles, jigs, bait, and a meal ranging from BBQ to local restaurant delivery.

Attendees are required to bring a current fishing license and warm winter clothing.

Each event will last 5-6 hrs we start our ice fishing season as soon as the ice is safe to travel on.

Events are scheduled in the anchorage and Matanuska Susitna borough.

WARRIOR  WEEKEND
(Camp)

Each year we have two family camps (Warrior Weekends) at the Alaska State Elks camp in Sutton Alaska.

These events are based on family interaction and meeting new people that love the outdoors.

These normally are held the weekend before Memorial Day and the last weekend in September. These events start Friday afternoon and end Sunday morning. There are equine events, UTV trail rides, family games, kids' crafts, and a bonfire each evening for socializing.

The facilities are group cabins which sleep ten people five per side, shower facilities and restrooms are available on site. Guests are required to bring season-appropriate clothing, some type of bedding (twin beds), toiletries, and a desire to have fun.

The following meals are provided: Friday dinner 1800, Saturday breakfast, lunch, dinner,  s’mores by the fire, then Sunday morning breakfast.
